That would make it worse if it’s hot/humid enough lol. I’ve definitely been driving in the Miata with the top down and put it up to make it less hot. It has to be 100+ heat index usually before it gets that bad though. And on a long highway trip, that wind noise gets annoying. I’ve learned this after driving like that for 10 days straight lol.

Air Conditioning is probably my number one requirement for any sort of road trip. Even in my Miata, I might never use it but I will be damned if it doesnt work. Should it rain, I for sure want working AC when the top is up. Plus even with the top down, I run the AC if I get stuck in traffic and it’s especially hot out. I just have to put the windows up to keep the hot engine air from being blown straight onto me by the AC fan in the engine bay.

I’d rather use it for less road / wind noise, but can’t have it if it don’t work. I hear it’s a different heat down there, it’s the sticky humidity that causes swamp ass.

Actually driving west from 3-7 was nicer with a top keeping the sun off my head. Did have to use the visors for the last hour or so.

Over 210k miles, AC doesn’t work, drivers window gets stuck down ( goes up with a downward pressure though) beater status achieved.

Also got 205k on the Miata. Although as my paint would suggest, I have properly achieved beater status as well anyways. That GM window stick problem is definitely a common thing. My mom has an ‘01 Chevy Venture that has the exact same problem in both front windows.

But hey if it keeps driving, it is still a good car as far as I am concerned. I find it wild how many people call 100k “high mileage”. Or even how oil is labeled “high mileage” at 75k+.

I’d consider 200k high mileage. Depending on the maintenance, things can start failing.

Speaking of, I need to go across the street and pick up some 50/50 premix dexcool.

I don’t think it was mine, but I must have run over an orange milky goo when backing into my spot at the hotel. I was freaking out for a minute...

Yeah, it’s definitely a more livable heat down here. I’m from Denver, so the change was a bear that first summer, but having worked a bunch on the Gulf Coast and in KC, I know that humidity is way worse than this dry heat. It’s supposed to be 110 this weekend, and we’re going paintballing. The heat ain’t what gets ya, when it’s that hot we just drink a couple gallons of water, add humidity and the ever-lovin life gets sucked outta ya!
